"Science is our passion."
"The BRIGHT (Biophotonics Research In Intelligent Global Health Technologies) laboratory advances next-generation diagnostic technologies at the convergence of photonics, biomedical engineering, and artificial intelligence. Our research integrates Raman spectroscopy, label-free imaging, AI-driven virtual histology, and cancer diagnostics to deliver innovative healthcare solutions.
We focus on developing fast, non-invasive, and clinically translatable technologies for real-time disease detection and intraoperative guidance, with the overarching goal of improving cancer diagnosis and patient outcomes."
Advanced raman spectroscopic techniques for molecular characterization and disease diagnosis.
Non-invasive imaging modalities that eliminate the need for staining or contrast agents.
Machine learning algorithms for virtual histopathology and automated diagnosis.
Real-time diagnostic tools for cancer detection and intraoperative surgical guidance.

Dr. Rishikesh Pandey’s work lies at the forefront of transforming how diseases are detected and diagnosed. Trained in Raman spectroscopy at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, his work bridges photonics, AI, and medicine to enable real-time, label-free clinical solutions.
Following postdoctoral research at the University of Pittsburgh and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2013–2016), he served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine (2016–2019). He then led translational innovation as Chief Scientist at CytoVeris Inc. (2019–2024), developing real-time optical technologies for clinical use.
At IIT Roorkee, he leads the BRIGHT Laboratory, focused on creating fast, non-invasive diagnostic tools and intraoperative guidance technologies to transform cancer care.
