Meet the brilliant minds behind BRIGHT Lab
Assistant Professor
Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
Dr. Rishikesh Pandey is currently serving as an Assistant Professor (since July 30, 2024) in the Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, where he leads the BRIGHT (Biophotonics Research In Intelligent Global Health Technologies) laboratory.
His research centers on the development and clinical translation of advanced biophotonic technologies, with a focus on Raman spectroscopy, label-free imaging, artificial intelligence-driven virtual histology, and cancer diagnostics.
Dr. Pandey obtained his Ph.D. in Raman Spectroscopy from the Indian Institute of Science and subsequently held postdoctoral positions at the University of Pittsburgh and the G. R. Harrison Spectroscopy Lab at MIT.
Before joining IIT Roorkee, he served as Chief Scientist at CytoVens Inc. (2019–2024) and as affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering.
With a prolific publication record and over 3,800 citations on Google Scholar (h-index ≈25), Dr. Pandey is internationally recognized for his contributions to translating vibrational spectroscopic techniques toward real-time, label-free diagnosis and intraoperative guidance in oncology.
